Inside Out Festival creates a unique platform for creative knowledge exchange around the increasing intersections of technology on and in the arts and culture as well as other timely, and occasionally unexpected, themes.
The Games for Cities programme is hosting the first international conference with leading ‘city-game’ design experts from around the world. Games for Cities is an initiative started by Play the City and partners, and aims to create a platform for knowledge exchange on games that have the potential to facilitate more effective and inclusive city-making. The conference will be held in Rotterdam’s Het Nieuwe Instituut and is open to the public.
Medialab-Prado is launching an open call for the submission of projects and research articles for the international collaborative prototyping seminar and workshop to be held in Madrid from 17 to 31 May 2017. As a theme, Interactivos?’17 suggests mobility in the city (living beings, material goods, pollutants, etc) on the intersection of three wide perspectives: citizen science, environmental sustainability and creativity and art with digital tools.

When traditional systems become obsolete, they evolve into the facilitator of their own crash. The initial position of the nine debuting artists is the shift- and notions of values within the current axis of time. Nieuw Dakota offers a stage to these artists from the Fine Arts-department of MaFAD (Maastricht) to test their explorations in the presence of each other, of the space and the public.
An artist, two academics and two journalists selected a series of video fragments that engage with armed violence from recent news media, cinema and new media art. Intertwined with a cinema screening of this video collection, they will talk about everyday experiences of fear and violence in Western Europe.

TRUTH-TELLERS, the 10th conference of the Disruption Network Lab, aims to reflect on the impact of speaking out, leaking, and whistleblowing from a technological, cultural and artistic perspective. If speaking out is a mean to expose wrongdoing, misconducts, and inform about unknown facts that must be revealed, an in-depth analysis of the consequences of this act is needed.
